Ava Miskic

Meet Ava, a 19-year-old student from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, who’s thrilled to be joining the Sail Caribbean team this summer! Ava is currently working toward her Bachelor of Commerce degree at the University of Victoria on Vancouver Island, and will be heading into her third year this fall. Growing up in Calgary, close to the Rocky Mountains, Ava spent her winters skiing, and eventually became a ski coach. It was through coaching that she fell in love with mentoring kids through sport and play, especially in fun, outdoor settings. That experience sparked her passion for youth leadership and creating positive, active environments where kids can thrive. Since moving to the West Coast for school, Ava has fallen in love with island life and the ocean, something she didn’t have growing up in Alberta. Although she didn’t live near the coast, her summers were often spent on a small island in Croatia, where her family is from. Those summers helped shape her love for the water and adventurous spirit. Whether it’s on skis, a bike, or on foot, Ava is always up for an outdoor adventure. She’s excited to bring her energy, leadership, and love for working with youth to the British Virgin Islands this summer!
