Melissa Treacy
Melissa is a 21-year-old business student at the University of Victoria. She was born and raised in rural Alberta on her family’s farm. Although she loves the prairies, she decided to make a big move and attend university on Vancouver Island. During university, she joined the collegiate sailing team and fell in love with the sport. She loves sailing because of its ability to create lifelong connections, immerse her in nature, and compete in regattas.
Previously, Melissa has worked across Canada, including at a remote fishing lodge in the Northwest Territories. She enjoys working in environments where people can foster connections with others and the natural world, which led her to pursue a role with Sail Caribbean. She is excited to spend the summer on a boat instead of in an office. She is interested in developing leadership skills and pursuing a career in entrepreneurship or tourism, and seeks to have a positive impact on people’s lives by helping them create community and connection.
