Thomas Clawson

Mate

Thomas found a love for sailing in the mountains of Colorado. He started on a lake called Lake Dillon, which is known to be one of the hardest lakes to learn on in the country for its chilling waters year-round and its violent wind changes due to the surrounding mountains. Thomas started sailing when he was 11 years old and has been sailing for 7 years, honing his skill for it and finding out as much as he can before moving on to a more challenging area. Thomas was a student for two programs, first being Delta 2 of 2023, where he and his crew went down island with a sister boat, and Lima of 2024, where he and his crew sailed around and explored what it meant to be staff members on a junior course. Outside of sailing, Thomas was a server and expediter at a brewery called Dillon Dam Brewery in Dillon, Colorado. Before that, he worked in retail and construction. For the first years of Thomas’s life, he lived in a little town called Fayetteville, Arkansas, where he found a love for the outdoors and being active. While his classmates were inside, he was outside biking, playing sports, and exploring the plains. When he moved in 2015 to Colorado, he was met with hard elevation change and more difficulty when biking, but was able to get used to it after living there for a few years. He has many certifications, including firefighting stage 1, First aid, and CPR.
