It’s Day 12 of Alpha and the crew on Summer had a day full of fun and magical moments! Our day began at 7:00am at Anegada. In the morning we were greeted by a sea turtle at the water’s surface and a vibrant rainbow in the sky.

We enjoyed yogurt parfaits for breakfast thanks to Lucy and Bowen and prepared for departure. Ethan was skipper of the day, and he safely motored us out of the channel, careful to avoid the reef. Horseshoe Reef surrounds Anegada attracting diverse marine life and causing to a history of shipwrecks. The weather was calm with a light breeze gusting 16 knots — perfect conditions for sailing. The crew worked together to raise the sails and by 9:00am we were sailing! We sailed on a broad reach as Lucy navigated us to Trellis Bay, our destination for the day.

We arrived at 11:30am and ate sandwiches and scrambled eggs to fuel us for activities. It was an important day for our ASA students who sailed the Colgates to complete their practical exam. All the divers had the opportunity to show off their skills during a fun dive, and Alpha fleet explored onshore at Trellis to buy locally designed T-shirts and snacks.

As the sun went down, our crew had a fun photo shoot with one of the best sunsets of the trip! To finish the day, Summer crew presented an original talent show with magic tricks, songs, and artwork. We strung up lights (colorful headlamps) and the bow became a stage. Summer enjoyed their favorite day of the program and look forward to the end of program barbecue!
