After going to bed to the most beautiful sunset, the crew of Jus Chillin was well-rested and ready to start a busy and fun day. We were awakened to another beautifully sunny day and a pile of delicious pancakes made by our wonderful Stella and Kal, and after stuffing our faces, we were prepared and excited to get the day started.
Our Open Water diver, Gavin, packed his lunch and bag and headed out bright and early at 8 a.m. to finish his confined water dives, while the rest of us slowly kept waking up. We then said goodbye to our fun diver, Stella, who had a day full of diving at the Rhone and swimming with spotted eagle rays ahead.
The rest of the crew traveled over to Tigerlily for a boat swap and combined sail to the Bight. We raised the sails with our Tigerlily skipper and mate, Eloise and Shelby, and started what would be an incredible sail. During the sail, we had a jibing lesson taught by the amazing Captain Annabel and had a few practice runs with Jaxon and Phin at the helm. The rest of us helped and also relaxed on the fly deck, getting to know each other while soaking up the sun and listening to Ellie’s amazing music queue, including lots of Ed Sheeran.
After a successful sail and mooring at the Bight, we headed back to Jus Chillin and enjoyed some yummy sammies. As we waited for the return of our divers, Seb and Travis got to get in some exhilarating tubing with Watt, coming back with lots of funny stories and laughter. Once reunited, we headed to land with the rest of the fleet for the Helipad hike. Enjoying some lovely conversation with fellow campers, the crew of Jus Chillin made their way up to the Helipad, where Hilary led some fun group games for the two fleets. Shoutout to our fellow Delta camper, Gavin, for winning “Oh Captain, My Captain!” We were very proud and loved the rep!
We finally headed back to the boats for some fun shower time, and the vibes were high as we prepared for our CHILI COOK-OFF! After an hour of preparation, both in theatrics and taste, the crew of Jus Chillin welcomed the judges from Carolena II onto their boat as they brought them around the lair of an evil scientist. After our chili brought their “Frankenstein” back to life, the judges tasted the chili and sang their chili anthem before departing our boat.
We finished the night in our boat meeting, where we went around sharing our favorite parts of the day and picking out activities for the next.
“My favorite part was the boat swap with Tigerlily and the great sail we had with their crew and Captain Annabel.” – Jaxon Jones
Another perfect day sailing around for the crew of Jus Chillin and the Alpha Delta fleet—we can’t wait for tomorrow!
