Travelling from all over the U.S., our Echo students all safely arrived to Hodges Creek Marina yesterday with smiles on their faces! The Echo staff, Mady, Max, and Topher, were patiently awaiting their arrival getting provisions ready, cleaning the boat, and organizing some fun activities for them during the program.

Last night, we had a dinner buffet of grilled chicken, coleslaw, and rice and beans. With a full stomach and a day of travel, they turned in to have their first sleep on Nosy Be, their 50-foot monohull sailboat. Then, they woke up to have a relaxed morning at Hodges Creek. The crew took a walk around the marina, got their brand new crew t-shirts, and learned how to de-dock the boat.

Skipper of the day, Jacob, safely led the crew off the dock and to their first destination: The Bight on Norman Island! The wind was perfect for a smooth sail down to one of our favorite mooring fields where the turtles are always swimming. Tonight, the crew will be getting more familiar with living on the boat and getting a ‘refresher’ lesson on how to pick up a mooring ball.
We are so excited for all the wonderful adventures our Echo Program is about to go on and we can’t wait to show you all of the photos from the trip!
