LIMA Days 4-6
Written by Lexi C., Lima Sail student
The past three days have been super fun and productive. We have been mainly focused on our American Sailing certifications and RYA Power Boat Level Ones. On Day 4, Shila, Nina, and I studied for our ASA test while Skyler and Mannat prepped for their Divemaster e-learning. We then met with Richard, who is an RYA instructor who lives in Antigua. Our counselor, Reagan, who was a Lima student last year, also had Richard as her RYA instructor, so we were excited to welcome him! For the first day, he taught us some navigational skills. Afterwards, we took an ASA 101 quiz. For dinner, Mannat and Skyler made some delicious stir-fry.
On Day 5, the Mannat and Skyler (Divemasters) went to do some open water dives and more e-learning. For us on Lima Sail, it was our first day on the rib! We practiced docking and driving in forward and reverse. We were moored at The Bight on Norman Island, so when the sun set, we went for a night hike to the helipad to watch the start.
Finally, on Day 6, we sailed over to Nanny Cay, one of our favorite places. We got back on the rib and practiced navigation and driving. Then, we did a Man Overboard training on the rib, which was fun! The Divemasters did their first skill circuit off our boat, so we all got to watch. Finally, we got some time on shore to go to the shops and land showers! I have been having so much fun, and I cannot wait to get my ASA 103 soon and for the Divemasters to work on their Emergency Response Training.
