Hello everyone! This is Shila on the Lima Program, sailing on Life’s Been Good – and life at Sail Caribbean really has been good. On Day 7, we woke up at the early hour of 6 am and made pancakes before getting ready for the day. Our RYA instructor, Richard, came to our boat at Nanny Cay. Nanny Cay is a marina on Tortola that has a lot of cute shops, restaurants, and the most wonderful land showers. Richard took me, Lexi, and Nina to practice docking, dedocking, reversing, and driving at high speed. This was our last day on the rib before we got our certifications. The divers, Manat and Skyler, helped the Sail Caribbean Divers teach an Open Water course for some of the younger students on the Mega Fleet. They also worked on their e-learning.

Day 8 was a big day. We switched our boat, Charrette, to Life’s Been Good back at Hodges which was quite the process. We switched from a 40-foot catamaran to a 45-foot one which is great for the experience, but a lot of packing and moving! Then, we got on one of the Colgate 26’s to sail and learn some great skills. We ended up running into a thrilling squall! Eventually, we arrived at Trellis Bay and met up with our boat. That night, we all dressed up and went ashore for a nice meal of sushi. We ate so much and were so full!

Day 9 was a much more relaxing day. We had a later wake up at 8 am and had some swimmy fun time. Then, we did a motor/sail to Lee Bay on Great Camanoe Island. Lee Bay is a favorite of staff and students as it is quiet and serene, and always has the best sunsets. Afterwards, our Sail Director, Arter, arrived and taught us some lessons for ASA over a yummy bowl of pasta. Tomorrow, Arter will come back and teach us some more lessons and get us ready for our big exam! Overall, the time here has been a good mix of productive and fun. Can’t wait to see what is in store for us the rest of the time!
