Mega Fleet! Day 18

We woke up early to depart from our stormy night at Savannah Bay, casting off by 7am. Rain jackets on, we headed out to sail to Little Harbour. The weather soon cleared to sunny skies, and cereal was eaten on the way while taking in beautiful views over the islands. We enjoyed a smooth sail.

Soon it was time for the crew to attempt their first med anchor of the trip. Myles on Graytful nailed it on the windlass, even though it malfunctioned several times. A few solid hits with a winch handle did the trick and brought it back to life.

After a successful anchor, the crew enjoyed a swim around the boat before lunch, which was quesadillas and leftover chilli from the amazing chilli cook off (Graytful loved Katie’s chilli twist, adding cinnamon and maple syrup). Then it was time for water sports, with tubing and water ski skills on display. Some students went on a hike to take in the stunning views over Little Harbour. Meanwhile, Charlie’s divers headed out for two fun dives, spotting turtles on the first and exploring a shipwreck crawling with hermit crabs on the second.

Dinner was penne pasta with tomato sauce and chicken, made by Vespa and Isla, which was devoured in minutes before everyone headed out for a night snorkel. Students swam through schools of snappers, got a jump scare from lurking barracudas, and even spotted an octopus tucked into a hole. Back on the boats, it was bucket showers followed by winding down over Oreos while debriefing the day’s adventures.

Night Snorkel was so much fun….

“Today was awesome. I got to do my first night dive, which was so cool, I saw lobsters! We dove at Willy T for it. Tubing was tough, so I think I’m going to try water skiing next time. Dinner was great too, penne pasta.” – Ryan, Student On Graytful
