We woke up at Lee Bay to the sunshine. We made eggs and toast before an up-anchoring lesson. After the lesson, we spotted two baby turtles right off our bow! We up-anchored and started our sail to Cooper Island.

On the sail, we learned about the points of sail and how to moor. Our crew did an amazing job of raising the sails, tacking, and bringing down the sails. At Cooper Island, we picked up a mooring ball and made some lunch. For lunch, we had grilled tomato and cheese with some pineapple.

With lunch put away, we headed off to the dive boat, ready to hear the “prior to firsts”. We learned about safety on the dive boat and what to expect from our dive courses. The DSD (Discover Scuba Divers) divers then went back to their boats for some time with water sports and sailing on our Colgate 26s. The students doing their open water course started with learning their dive tables and how to assemble their equipment. Fun divers, advanced open water students, and rescue students hopped on the dive boat for some fun dives and to check out some skills they’ve mastered.

A few short hours later, all divers were back to their boats and ready for some time to swim and take ocean showers. Dinner was burritos. The sunset was bright orange as we did our nightly boat clean. Before we knew it, it was time for cookies and boat meeting to finish off the day!
