Little Harbour to Long Bay Via Sandy Cay

The day started off at 7a.m. being woken up by the cool sprinkle of rain. Everyone got their sleeping bags inside and within 30 minutes the small sprinkle had turned into a downpour. With Tristan at the helm, he rallied his crew, who now had rain jackets on and we de-moored the boat from Little Harbour. Caitlin was the spotter and did a great job despite the poor visibility. Everyone was in great spirits as the rain was a nice change. It was a short motor to Little Harbour where we moored the boats, with Tyler and CJ as port and starboard threaders and Carlos as the hooker.

The crew swam to the shore of Sandy Cay and Olympics began! The games started off with Dizzy fender, a fun relay race, followed by Tug of War and Sand Art. It was a fun competition between the boats with everyone being good sports and enjoying the games in the rain. After the activities, the students were left to explore the small island, with Micheal, Tristan, Caitlin, Tyler, CJ and Carlos hiking around while Sydney and Kinsey stayed on the beach and tried to open up coconuts! It was a fun morning but it came time to leave for the next destination.

All three boats de-moored and set up the coast of Tortola, all boats got their sails up within minutes as they are pro’s at this stage! They sailed to Long Bay where it was time for anchoring the boat. Tristan did an unbelievable job at anchoring the boat with very little direction from his captain.

Once the boat was anchored, poparazzi came round to pick up everyone to have one final go. They all had so much fun. After more water sports and beach time, it was time for showers and then a BBQ. All the fleets came together, Foxtrot, Charlie, Sierra and Alpha for one final time. We had some burgers and hotdogs followed by a visit from the ice cream truck! It was a lovely evening and the students loved hanging out together.

At 9p.m., it was back to boats for a boat meeting and power down. The Crew of Miss You decided to have a dance party with CJ leading the way. At 10p.m., they were all danced out and went to bed exhausted. It was a fantastic day.

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
