Delta 1 Day 3: A Day At Manchioneel Bay, Cooper Island

This morning, the Delta crew kicked off the day bright and early in Haulovers Bay, Cooper Island.  After the Open Water divers headed out to continue their work towards the certification course, the rest of the crew up-anchored and headed around the corner to Manchioneel Bay, Cooper Island.  The crew of Attila even saw a dolphin and a few sea turtles along the way. Once on the ball, the Delta, Alpha, and Tango students headed ashore to the Cooper Island Resort for a day of fun at the beach.  Students went out on stand-up paddleboards and kayaks as well as Opal Bella, Sail Caribbean’s very own 26-foot Colgate sloop before enjoying ice cream and smoothies on the beach.

After lunch, the crews got together for a marine science lesson delivered by one of our Marine Science Instructors Zosha about some of the marine life they might observe during their stay in the Caribbean. Then, everyone jumped in for divine snorkel at Cistern Rock.  Boulder coral and branching coral are abound at Cistern rock.  It is common to see octopuses, colorful reef fish, stingrays, and turtles!

After the Open Water divers returned from their afternoon session, it was time to start making dinner and shower up! Once bellies were full, the crews of Attila and Rioja met for their respective nightly boat meetings.  Eyelids soon got heavy and it was time to rest up for the following day.
