Delta 1 Day 7: With Speeds Of 7 – 9 Knots, We Hauled It To Sandy Cay

This morning, we were off to a lazy start as we set aside an hour for everyone to wander around the shops of Nanny Cay some more because there is so much to see! After some last minute purchases and a final playdate with the local dock-dwelling cats, we bid adieu to Nanny and its luxurious showers. We reconvened, discussed and briefed everyone onboard on what our de-docking plan was and set off towards Sandy Cay for the morning.

With our crews reaching speeds of 7 to 9 knots, we made it to the Sandy Cay in no time. The infamous island is the one and only place that legendary Captain Jack Sparrow was left on to die, until the British navy came to his aid, thanks to Elizabeth Swan lighting the entire island a flame. Luckily for us, the island was not fired up but instead still beautiful and intact. We were able to spend the afternoon ashore learning about the formation of the British Virgin Islands while hiking to the top of the island for another breath taking view.

After our hike, we were able to relax under the shade of a coconut tree listening to reggae and conversing before heading back to boats. After swift and thorough pre-departure checks, we set off to Great Harbor where we ended up showering and relaxing as dinner was delivered to each of the boats in order to give the crew a night off of dinner prep and clean. After a delicious meal, we spent the rest of the evening enjoying each other’s company over card games and a ukulele jam session. The day was comparatively relaxing but gave us even more time to truly get to know each other and continue working and learning together.
