EARLIES Day 6
Written by Sarah B; Captain
The Sail Caribbean fleet awakened from their slumber at the late wake-up time of 7:30. I am the captain of LGB, and we were graced by the views of The Bight on Norman Island while my crew whipped up some breakfast! To finish our provisions, we had a myriad of breakfast leftovers before restocking later this evening.
At 9:00 AM, I left our vessel to embark on an adventure aboard a smaller boat called the Colgate. Captain Flora and I sailed with six students to Little Harbor on Peter Island. The wind was gusting over 20 knots as we beat upwind to our destination. Approximately two hours and one points-of-sail lesson later, we arrived at Little Harbor (with some help from our engine).
During this two-hour period, there was also lots of fun happening back at The Bight—Captain Izzy took a group of students tubing and tossed the older kids around, and everyone was smiling ear to ear. All the boats pulled out their lily pads and paddle boards, and students were swimming around, enjoying some fun, chill time.
Once I made it to Little Harbor, we got RIB’d back to The Bight to set sail on our next great adventure of the day. We dropped the mooring ball and sailed to Nanny Cay Marina. Ryder was the skipper of the day, Henri was our mate, and Max was our navigator. On my boat, Bronte, the Australian fish guru, taught my students about different fish and helped us dock at Nanny (after an hour of hovering). After all that hovering, it was finally time to dock in the busy world of Nanny Cay! LGB had great spotters and communicators, and we managed to dock smoothly—with no scrapes!
Shore time was had, parents were called, and luxurious showers were taken as students explored Nanny for the first time. We wound down with a boat meeting aboard Le Grand Bleu (LGB) and ate delicious digestives. We played games and sat around the table in the boat’s cockpit. My mates had a staff meeting, so I got some really fun quality time with my awesome crew—and our laughs were definitely heard throughout the docks. It was an awesome day, and everyone was thrilled to have some land time.
