Hello blog readers! My name is Hannah and I’m a mate on board participating in staff training B!! After docking on the lovely Scrub Island last night, we all got to enjoy the morning by sleeping in an extra hour and grabbing some coffee from a cafe. Fueled with iced lattes, we made our way back to the boats for some docking practice. Rosie, Ellen, and Jacob all gave a go at being skipper, and they did an excellent job!
Every time we docked, it was more smoothly, and everyone worked as a team, from striking lines to spotting. After a few times docking and dedocking, we then began our sail from Scrub Island to Savannah Bay. The sailing was smooth and the vibes were high.
Around 4pm we dropped anchor in Savannah Bay where we immediately hopped in the crystal clear blue waters. Max and Rosie went for a snorkel, Ellie practiced her backflips, and the rest of us had a shower party. After completing what I think is one of the best things in the world (ocean showering) we had our nightly staff meeting followed by dinner. We then had some free time which I used to call my friends and family at home.
Shortly after we presented our group lessons on anchoring, knots, and collision regulations. The evening is now settling down and we’re all about to pass out for the night. It’s been a really great time and we’ve all learned so much. I can’t wait for when our campers arrive next week!!
