Earlies Fleet! Day 2
Written by Oliver S., Social Media Mate
This was the start of the journey: De-Docking Day from The Moorings to Trellis, which was super exciting. After the wholesome BBQ last night and starting to settle in, we had a long but fun day ahead.
We started the morning with a breakfast buffet featuring cereals, bagels, fruit, and yogurt. Once everyone was fueled up and ready for the day, we kicked things off with a talk from founder Mike about what to expect over the next couple of weeks and how excited he was to welcome everyone to Sail Caribbean. Director Arter then led a briefing on the importance of expectations and making the most of the experience ahead.
After that, we had the chance to check out the diving equipment with our sister company, Sail Caribbean Divers, and take a look around the really cool shop. Then it was time for Boatos (boat photos), with every boat lined up and ready in preparation for de-docking.
Next came the de-docking lesson led by the captains and mates. Everyone got into position, learned their roles, and prepared to leave The Moorings behind.
And then we were underway.
About thirty minutes later, it was time to raise the sails. We went over the lesson one more time beforehand to make sure everything ran smoothly, and it did. Once the sail was up, the music came on, a DJ for the day was chosen, and the games began. We even played a hydration game using our new Sail Caribbean water bottles.
After successfully picking up a mooring ball in Trellis Bay, it was finally time to cool off in the crystal-clear water. First, though, we did a jellyfish check led by Mate Anna, something we do every time before getting in the water, followed by our swim test. Once that was done, it was time to enjoy the water and learn how to take an ocean shower.
Then came one of the best parts of the day: tacos for dinner.
Now it’s time to power down and get some rest so we’re ready for whatever adventures tomorrow brings.
Good night from Trellis!
