We started the day early with pancakes and berries, cooked to perfection and gone in minutes. Fuel for what was coming.
We dropped the mooring ball at Soper’s Hole and set sail for Sandy Cay, Olympics day. Energy was high the whole way over, music blasting, flags getting designed, crew already chanting before we’d even dropped anchor.
All boats were ready to go!
On the beach: a team talk, a chant rehearsal (we were confident), then tug of war against every other boat on the water. Staff vs. students came next. Students took it. Then sea dances, Bird on the Porch, and sandcastles built using the captain as a human prop. Total chaos, total fun.
Back to the boats for quesadillas, then over to Jost Van Dyke for the Bubbly Pool hike, with games led by Katie P, including Splat, which she swears is basically Ninja with a British accent.
Second sail of the day took us to Sydney’s: ocean showers, photoshoots, and a reunion with Alpha crew to trade stories from the programme so far. Dinner was jerk chicken, rice, and salad, followed by ice cream, a wander through the shops, and dancing until it was time to head back to the boats.
One of the most action packed days yet, and everyone’s already asking what’s next.
“I’ve been waiting four years for this moment again with Sea Olympics. From being a camper to now a MIT, it reminded me of being a camper again :)” — Shila J, Mate in Training
