Today, Noah was our skipper and Bryce was our mate. We started the day off with delicious pancakes made by Chris and Elinor. We then left Soper’s Hole and sailed upwind to The Bight at Norman Island. Noah and Kirk both did really good job at the helm and making sure we didn’t get stuck head to wind. After a few hours of sailing, we successfully picked up a mooring ball at Norman and had lunch.

After lunch, Kirk left to go diving and the rest of the crew went snorkeling at the caves at Norman Island, where it is rumored Blackbeard buried his treasure. There were loads of different types of fish and coral, and we even saw an eagle ray! We then returned to shore where Steve, Bryce, Valeria and Daniel played beach volleyball while Elinor, Josie, Sophie and Daniel went out tubing.

Later in the evening, we all returned to the boats where we had showers and prepared a dinner of honey mustard chicken and salad. Today our crew did a great job of sailing in heavy winds, but we need to improve on communication. Our miracle moment was when Chris managed to flip a pancake into Kevin’s mouth!

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
