Alpha 3 & Tango 3: Day 11 – Little Harbour

By wpdev August 6, 2021

Day 11

The morning started off with a snorkel at The Indians, which are located just north of The Bight. It is one of the most popular snorkeling sites in the BVI.  It is marked by four rocky pinnacles that rise straight up, about 100 feet from the ocean floor.

After lunch, a group of students hopped in the Colgate while the rest of the boats sailed over to Little Harbour. Once at Little Harbour, the students had to complete their first med-anchoring. After dropping an anchor in the middle of the harbor, the boats had to tie the stern to an object ashore. The execution takes knowledge of how your boat behaves in reverse and skill in getting lines ashore.

The rest of the day was spent tubing, wakeboarding and snorkeling around the boats. Around 6 pm the students started prepping for SC Chili Cook-Off. This is a tradition that students participate in during each program. The boats put on dinner and a show for the staff boat. Each boat is judged on chili flavor, theme and presentation. It is usually a pretty silly night for everyone.

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
