Charlie and Alpha (Chalpha!) Day 1

By wpdev August 6, 2014

It was an early morning rise for the staff, here at Sail Caribbean, who were eagerly awaiting the arrival of their first students! Boats were set-up and beds were made in preparation for the last program of the summer. There is a strong sense of excitement here on docks.

As the first batch of students arrived, we had some snacks set out for them and they unpacked before heading to the pool for some relaxation time. As the rest of the students arrived, everyone began to get acquainted with each other and the boats they would be living on with their crew members for the next two weeks.

A delicious and local dinner of Caribbean chicken, rice and slaw was presented to the students before having their Mike Talk, describing both the culture and rules to be followed while here on program. Afterwards, students got a chance to finish calling home and shower before their first boat meeting.

After a long day of traveling, everyone was glad to get into their sleeping bags on the decks of their boats and count the shooting stars before being rocked to sleep by the ocean waves.

On Venture of Tortola we have Captain Barb and Mate Lindley:

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
