Our crew awoke today at the docks of Nanny Cay. After a delicious scrambled egg breakfast, we tidied up and sent our four fun divers and two open water divers off to the dive boat for the morning. For non divers, the morning was spent perusing the many small shops around Nanny’s marina.

Around midday, we made our way back to our vessel to prepare for departure. Having eaten lunch and with our fun divers back with the group, we anxiously awaited the arrival of our two newly certified open water divers! Once the crew had all returned and was ready to go, we departed for Trellis Bay to do some community service!

Over at Trellis, we spent an hour doing a snorkel trash pick up on the reef and surrounding sea floor. Feeling accomplished from our work, we loaded up the dinghy and headed ashore to visit a local artist’s shop: Aragorn Studio. Everyone had a chance to browse the gorgeous pottery and jewelry and buy some of the famous t-shirts featuring Aragorn’s Caribbean-inspired prints.

Back at the boat after our little shore expedition, we got ready to motor and headed for Marina Cay, our final destination for the night. Then, with bellies full of a spaghetti dinner, the crew was taught a lesson on nocturnal adaptations to prepare them for the evening activity: a night snorkel. On the snorkel, the group saw lots of cool nocturnal fish and creatures, even including an octopus! We then swam back to the boat for an ice cream party in the salon, the perfect end to another full and exciting day in the BVI’s.

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
