On Saturday, July 15th, we woke up bright and early to head to the airport. Departure day began with a 6 am wakeup. We brought all our bags to the porch outside the office, where Gus, our provisions manager, was handing out lemon and guava cake and fruit for a bite to eat before hitting the road. Those flying out of Beef Island got dropped off at the airport, while those flying out of St. Thomas rode the ferry to Charlotte Amalie with staff. Campers enjoyed exchanging social media and phone numbers with their new friends before hugging each other goodbye. Our campers make each session unique, and while we were sad to say goodbye, we were so proud of their growth over the last three weeks on and off the water!

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
