Hello, folks! The Deltas are currently moored in Ile Fourchue, an abandoned french island off the coast of both St. Martin and St. Barths, where we came from and where we are going. But let’s rewind to the beginning of the day today! Before we started on our boat chores, we went to the beach at Anse Marcel and splashed around in the Caribbean blue waters.

This morning, both crews helped move S/Y Aegnor to S/Y Galdor. S/Y Aegnor was having a few engine issues so we decided it was best to switch our Aegnor kids to another boat to continue on our journey. It was all hands on deck to help move boats, and everyone helped pick up the slack to assist their teammates. Our campers are building character and rolling with the punches splendidly! After that was done, we de-docked and left for Ile Fourchue. After a few hours of sailing, friendship bracelet-making, and reading, we made it here and headed to shore for a hike. The Ile Fourchue hike is known for having spectacular vistas and we just had to share it with our students here. Students frolicked around and enjoyed the scenery and landscape of this barren, volcanic island.

Once we were through with the hike, we dinghied back to boats to start dinner preparations and ocean showers. Tonight we had burritos! Everyone is happy to be moored in such a calm and gorgeous place. After dinner, we had our nightly boat meetings where everyone shares their roses, buds, and thorns of the day, completes captain’s logs, and debriefs the day. Tomorrow, July 27, we will make the quick sail over to St. Barths for fun on shore.

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
