Waking up early in the shadow of Saba’s majestic cliffs, we prepared a hearty breakfast that would sustain us in our exploration of the island. After a quick ferry ashore, we set our feet on land and piled into our taxi van.

As the van climbed the impossibly steep mountain roads, we looked in awe at the mountain we were about to climb. Trekking up the more than 1000 carved stone stairs to the top of Mount Scenery, we explored the unique biome of the rainforest in the clouds with banana leaves as big as people and flowers of the most vibrant colors.

After climbing back down the mountain, we ate a quick lunch and headed to a glassmaking studio to learn how to make glass beads. Once everyone successfully made their beads, we headed back to boats to prepare for our overnight return voyage to the BVI.

Departing into the sunset, we raised sails and watched the night sky come to life as the ocean gl
owed with bioluminescence!

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
