By wpdev August 7, 2014

Boat: Mazurka
Skipper: Abe

Today, everyone enjoyed our very first turtling in the morning.  We caught and tagged two green sea turtles!

We recorded measurements and collected data on when and where we found them.  After a quick sail to Cooper Island and some pizza bagels for lunch, the Open Water students got to begin their dive education and had their first confined water dive.  The rest of the crew collected some data on coral reef bleaching and disease at Cistern Rock for a citizen science project called Coral Watch.  While snorkeling, we saw a juvenile hawksbill sea turtle and some big barracuda!

The rest of the afternoon was spent looking for turtles and doing some tubing and wake boarding.

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
