Bravo 2 & Charlie 2 2018 Adventures Day 12 – Snorkeling The Kodiak Queen

Today, we enjoyed a little lie-in, as our foreign staff refer to it, that we all took full advantage of as we have had a busy and active couple of days. After a hearty breakfast, we started a deep clean of our boat because we were going to have a cleaning inspection later. We all pitched in our part and made the boat sparkling and passed our cleaning inspection with flying colors! We then enjoyed the rest of our morning with water sports and quality time with our crew mates. We also had the opportunity to snorkel the Kodiak Queen! It was unreal to get to look at a shipwreck/art installation and learn about the history behind it.

We all headed back to our home boats for a lunch of sandwiches and our favorite snacks. We tidied up, completed our pre-departure checks and set sail to our new location for the day. We left Mountain Point on Virgin Gorda and headed around the corner to Leverick Bay. While underway, we learned about man-over-board drills and how to handle them in the unfortunate event they took place. We even had the opportunity to practice the skill of retrieval with a fender dummy.

Once we arrived at Leverick, we picked up a mooring ball, showered and headed to shore for a fun-filled afternoon and evening. While on shore, we headed to the shops and wandered around on the beach. We then had a delicious buffet dinner on shore put on by the marina’s restaurant themselves. We later enjoyed the company of a DJ on stage that we danced the night away with.

As the night came to a close, we headed back to boats, held our nightly boat meeting, and discussed what the following day would entail as it would be Challenge day! Tomorrow, we would be putting our sailing knowledge to the true test, putting full responsibility of the vessels in the hands of our student crews. We then all turned in for the night to rest up for our big day ahead!
