Once everyone was ashore on Nevis, students explored the town and visited places such as the birthplace of Alexander Hamilton. In town, there were a bunch of souvenir shops and local artist shops where the kids could see the culture and spirit of Nevis. Afterwards, we walked along the shore line and enjoyed the beautiful view of open ocean.

Down on the beach, there were a few boutiques and restaurants where students had the opportunity to eat ashore and have delicious meals such as jerk chicken wings and quesadillas. The stores presented us with neat t-shirts and jewelry that everyone wanted to purchase as gifts and souvenirs for someone special back home.

When we returned back to boats, students swam around with their floats and stared in awe of the sun setting along the horizon. After showers, the boat were cleaned and everyone went back to shore for dinner at a local restaurant. This gave students the opportunity to taste the cuisine of Nevis! Everyone went back to boats exhausted from such an amazing day exploring a new island.

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
