Day 11:

Written by Tara Lang, Mate & Sander Donohue, Student (Boat: Aquarelle)

This morning we started the day off with pancakes and a boat swap! The Foxtrot and Sierra students left for an informative snorkel and the rest of the crew started our sail to Little Harbor. Foxtrot and Sierra students were able to look at coral reefs and inspect the coral for diseases. Meanwhile, Alpha students and divers were able to participate in water sports and explore the beauty of Little Harbor.

Many students returned from their afternoon dive certified! Other divers were able to go on their first night dive. After chicken alfredo for dinner, we had a fun boat clean while listening to our favorite music. Once the divers returned from their night dive, hot chocolate was waiting to warm them up after a chilly adventure in the beautiful Caribbean water. It was a long day packed with fun and exciting activities! With a wiped out crew we all headed to bed to prepare for another day in the gorgeous BVI.

Day 12:

Written by Kylie Wicklund, Dive Instructor & Mate (Boat: Samoa)

Day 12 started in pretty Little Harbor with the seagulls and goats enjoying breakfast on the beach while we started our pre-departure checks. While some students left to enjoy their final Caribbean dive of the trip, the rest set sail for Long Beach. After a few hours, the fleet found some shallow blondes to anchor before starting the time honored tradition of Sail Caribbean olympics.

Altair conquered the other boats in a fierce tug of war championship, while Samoa vanquished the fleet in dizzy fender, but the winners of the synchronized swimming event, sand art, and chili cook off will be announced tomorrow.

After enjoying a few hours of water sports and beach time, the fleet enjoyed a scrumptious bbq dinner provided by our incredible Sail Caribbean ops team before returning to the boats. Upon reflecting on the events of the day, Matthew and AJ agreed that their ten second wild ride on the hot dog was the highlight but Sander said his attempted dance party on the paddle board was his favorite part. Despite the day appearing quite frivolous and fun-filled, many divers completed specialties and kiddos aced ASA exams. Our time together is coming to a close, but everyone is super excited for our last day at the Baths.

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
