Early Alpha Day 11: So Many Destinations, So Little Time

Tucker, Patrick, Kat, Sofi, and Josh began their day with an early morning snorkel to look for sunken treasures (A.K.A. anything that blew off the lifelines in the powerful winds throughout the night). Josh was the only one who was successful, and he came back with a neighboring boat’s cushion that he found awash on shore.
Shortly after breakfast, (which was a buffet, despite Griffin wanting to make more Chili because he liked the Chili cookoff so much) Meursault upanchored. With Macy at the helm and Tripp on the windlass, we headed for a day full of adventures. It was an awesome three hour sail with a few perfectly executed gybes. While under sail, Griffin taught a few of his crew members how to do some navigation. Macy was an excellent Skipper of the Day, but she couldn’t have done it without the help of her crew. Shay and Griffin each got a solid chance at the helm, and they both got to lead their crew members through some mooring ball pick ups. Patrick was a huge help, and he got to thread the mooring ball twice today! The boat would not have been able to do these maneuvers without Anna, who is our loudest spotter on board!
Issy and Shay did a great job with lunch before we went ashore at Sandy Cay, and they did an even more amazing job with lunch clean when they got back from shore! They even swept all the floors! Sandy Cay was a great stop for lunch. The boat got to go to shore for some beach time and a hike. Kat and Sofi really enjoyed playing with all of the hermit crabs (the only locals on the island). Macy’s favorite part was when the team made a human pyramid on the beach!
Our next stop at Diamond Cay was just as fun. Our fleet hiked up to the Bubbly Pools. This was Josh’s favorite part of the day as he really enjoyed watching the waves crash through the rocks. Shay’s favorite part of Diamond Cay was hanging out with the dog that she befriended.
You can never have enough adventures in one day, so next, our crew set off for Little Harbor, Jost Van Dyke. This was our final destination for the day. After Tucker tied our secondary and we had some boat showers, the fleet headed to shore for a delicious dinner at Sydney’s of burgers, BBQ chicken, ribs, fish and shrimp. Everyone got a chance to get some fun souvenirs at the shops on shore too! Macy, Issy, Shay, and Anna also got some Caribbean braids in their hair!
Our night ended with the boat all chipping in to buy Patrick a shirt for his birthday tomorrow! Happy Birthday, Patrick!
