It’s World Cup Final Day! France versus Croatia and we definitely have some favorites to win on Vieques. We packed our bags in the morning with the essentials, and a prepared lunch ready to go ashore to watch the game at Leverick Bay Marina. Students bounced from the local stores to the pool while keeping track of the score of the big game. It was a great morning with souvenirs purchased to remember the trip once back home. France took the gold!

Once we got back to boats after lunch, the crew prepared their boat for the sail to George Dog. We focused on our downwind sailing skills and worked as a team to get the boats safely anchored and secured for the evening.

Tonight, a very special guest was coming, “Gordon Ramsey” to judge the chili our boat was preparing for dinner, but more importantly, for chili cook off! We decorated our cockpit with fruit loop chains and colorful lights ready for our special guest’s arrival. When he finally came, we sprinkled his chili with fruit loops which we were pretty sure he loved.

Following his departure, we held our habitual boat meeting, reviewing our day and then we powered down for bed for the next day of adventure.

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
