Richard Milton

Richard, known as Richie, grew up in South Africa, surrounded by nature and the ocean, which shaped his deep appreciation for the environment and life outdoors. From a young age, he developed a love for adventure, spending his time surfing, fishing, hiking, and exploring the coastline. This natural connection to the sea eventually led him to pursue a career in the marine world. He holds a BCom Honours degree in Economics and is a commercially endorsed RYA Yachtmaster Offshore and PADI Divemaster. Richie has gained valuable hands-on experience sailing catamarans, developing strong skills in navigation, helming, and overall vessel management, while always prioritising safety and teamwork onboard.

Richie is especially passionate about teaching and sharing his knowledge with others. Through his work and volunteering, particularly with adaptive surfing initiatives, he has found real fulfilment in helping people build confidence in the ocean and experience its beauty in a safe and supportive way. He enjoys guiding, mentoring, and creating an environment where others feel encouraged to learn and grow. For Richie, sailing is more than a career – it’s a way to combine adventure, people, and the natural world he cares deeply about.
