Another beautiful morning here in the Caribbean! Ondine woke up bright and early and made a delicious breakfast of cereal with a side of fruit. We then got ready to up anchor and move to Virgin Gorda Yacht Club because… it’s Baths Day! The campers have been waiting for this day to come, so there was so much excitement in the air to hike The Baths.
Once we moored, we took dinghies to the dock to be picked up by the taxi cabs. They rolled up blasting Taylor Swift, and the campers went wild. They all piled in and sang their way over to The Baths. Once we arrived, we huddled under the shade and got a lesson on the batholithic rocks found at this national park.
After meandering through the caves one by one, it was time to take off yet again. We sailed next door to Great Harbor, where the students took their ASA exams onboard. Afterward, everyone chipped in to clean the boats and get them squeaky clean. They also packed up their things so they were ready to head back home tomorrow. But don’t worry the kids still had time for one last tube, swim, and Colgate!
Next on the list was heading to the Moorings for our final docking. The students did an excellent job! You could really tell how much they had learned by how smoothly everything went! After docking, the students took showers and were then served a delicious BBQ dinner of jerk chicken and burgers fresh off the grill.
Dinner was followed by one of Sail Caribbean’s favorite traditions: the end-of-program skits, awards, and slideshow! Each boat performed a skit they came up with, and there were plenty of laughs all around. The students then watched the slideshow while enjoying yummy apple crisp for dessert. With an early morning ahead, it was an early night for the kiddos. We’re so sad to see them go!
