EARLIES Day 9

Written by Izzy O,. Captain
What a day on Judges Chambers!
This morning, we woke up in Trellis Bay to an overcast sky, which was actually perfect for the adventures we had in store. Breakfast was made, and after cleanup, the fleet shuttled to shore. By 9:15, we were ready for our hike.
The hike took about 45 minutes uphill, and we were huffing and puffing. Surrounded by lush green terrain, we watched hermit crabs crawling around our feet. In a single-file line, we climbed the rocks, going up, up, up. Despite the steep climb, everyone kept a great attitude, and no one gave up.
Eventually, we made it to the top and felt so proud of ourselves. The view was beautiful in every direction, and the water looked bluer than ever. We trickled back down with music playing and a strong sense of accomplishment.
At the bottom, we all shuttled back to the boats because it was already time to make lunch. Lunch was Greek wraps, and then we did a fun Mate Swap so the leaders could move around and meet new faces.
By 1 PM, it was time to drop the ball. Judges Chambers was loud and proud when it came to spotting. We had Noah at the helm today, and he was a great skipper. Kitt also had some time behind the wheel because today’s sail was our longest one yet, around 3 hours to the Bitter End.
We practiced lots of tacking—everyone was rotating and pulling in the jib. During our chill times, Sam read, Jayden and Charlie played cards, Rylah and Catherine joined our dance parties to loud music, and Paige, Julia, Carolina, and Lolly spent the whole sail giggling and cracking each other up.
After the sail, we finally made it and caught a mooring ball. Then it was time for showers, and we got dinner prep going while I went to a captain’s meeting. Dinner was made, and afterward, everyone pitched in to deep clean the boat. We ended the day laughing, playing music, and slowly winding down after such a packed and amazing day on the water.
