Earlies Fleet! Day 9
Written by Oliver S., Social Media Mate
We woke up at 7:30 a.m., excited and ready for the big day ahead. Our destination was the beautiful Anegada from North Sound, with a race along the way while the secondary sail was up, which Pacify took the lead in. For lunch, we enjoyed delicious chickpea pita pockets with sour cream tzatziki, a definite crowd favourite.
We arrived in Anegada around 12:30 p.m., and it was time for Foxtrot and Sierra to head ashore for a visit to the shark sanctuary. Before setting off, Mate Azra led an engaging lesson on the different shark species we might encounter and what to look out for. We were lucky enough to spot two lemon sharks during our visit!
Afterwards, everyone met up at the beach, where Emily led a lesson on Coral Island and Miles delivered a session on human impact and conservation. It was then time for one of Sail Caribbean’s favourite traditions: the beach clean competition. Congratulations to the Dilkara Dreamers, who took the win with an incredible effort!
Once the beach clean was complete, everyone enjoyed some well-earned downtime ashore. Campers grabbed ice creams and refreshments, explored the local shops, and soaked up the island atmosphere.
Back on the boats, preparations began for the highly anticipated chilli cook-off. The performances from each group were outstanding, but we’re keeping the results under wraps for now…
