This morning we woke up in the North Sound. The breakfast buffet was prepared by Taylor and Helena. We quickly wrapped up breakfast so we could start our sail to Anegada!
Lea was the skipper of the day, and we had a super successful few hours of sailing to Anegada. Anegada is a really cool and flat Virgin Island—it was once a coral reef! There are salt flats, flamingos, and sharks that you can spot around the island.
Once we arrived, we made some lunch and got ready for a big afternoon. The students packed clothes, shoes, money, and we dinghied ashore to start our adventure. Once on shore, three trucks of students were driven over to one of our favorite lunch and beach spots, Loblolly. There, everyone ordered smoothies, snacks, hung out in hammocks, sat by the beach, got ice cream, and chatted. Around 4 p.m., it was time to see the shark sanctuary! The Sierra students went before the rest of us and got to spot some lemon sharks and flamingos. Together as a fleet, we walked out on the shallow sandbar in the crystal-clear water and had fun looking at the ocean life at our feet.
After our fun evening, we drove back to our side of the island and headed to the boats. Sierra students went looking for turtles and saw so many! Once everyone was back on our boat, we started showers, dinner, and ended with boat meeting and wound down. It was a fun day at Anegada!
