Hi! I’m Maïka, one of the Mates on Blueberry. On our boat, we have Captain Katrina and Mate Hannah. Our awesome students are Stella, Brynne, Rowan, Leilani, Lulu, Alexa, Kenzie, Noah, Silas, and Jackson.
This morning, we woke up bright and early at Cooper Island, one of the kids’ favorite spots. After a tasty breakfast cooked by Lulu and Rowan, most of the crew left around 8 a.m. to continue their diving certifications. The rest of the group set sail for a two-hour trip to The Bight at Norman Island.
While we sailed, the divers completed two open water dives, and some of them even saw a pregnant nurse shark. So amazing!
For lunch, we had tortillas and fresh watermelon, and the entire fleet got to hang out together on their friends’ boats. The sun was shining, and the vibes were high.
Around 2 p.m., the divers returned to their boats, and the Blueberry crew reunited for a well-deserved, relaxing afternoon. Some students napped in the shade, while others read, laughed, and chatted. A few also went tubing and Colgating. It was an afternoon full of fun and relaxation.
At 4 p.m., the iconic shower party began. Everyone jumped into the ocean for refreshing saltwater showers, with music playing and snacks on deck.
Dinner was a hit. Jackson and Stella made homemade pizzas, and we all sat down to eat while the sky lit up with beautiful tints of orange as the sun set.
The crew was super motivated and finished boat clean early, so we wrapped up the day with a peaceful night under the stars, listening to music, stargazing, and enjoying each other’s company.
