Today Polly and the other rescue divers got up early at 6:30 to head to shore to begin their rescue diving course. Everyone else got to sleep in until 8. Upon waking up, we had a lovely breakfast of French toast and got ready to drop the ball at Cane Garden Bay and head towards Trellis Bay. During the sail, Hyrum practiced winching, Blair and Mika tacked, and Noey and Naomi made quesadillas.
Each boat spent time planning their chili cookoff skit theme. This afternoon, Naomi, Cort, and the other Sierra and Foxtrot students went with Mikayla and Bronte on a mangrove kayak tour with local guide Alex. We saw lots of baby lemon sharks and jellyfish, and learned all about mangroves!
Other students got shore time to grab a juice from the market, a snack from the restaurant, or a shirt from Aragon’s. They also had time to go tubing yesterday. Everyone returned to boats around 4 and really locked in on chili cookoff preparation ahead of the judges’ arrival.
Everyone enjoyed some chili and finished their skits, then we did a deep boat clean, had a boat meeting, and powered down to get ready for our long sail to the Bitter End tomorrow.
