Today we woke up at beautiful Trellis Bay. After a delicious breakfast spread of yogurt, bagels, and cereal, our AOW, Fun, and DSD divers got ready to dive at Ginger Steps. The rest of the crew prepared for either the Beef Island hike or a sail on the Colgate to Hodges Creek Marina. The divers had a great dive, seeing lots of fish, coral, and sharks! The Colgate crew enjoyed a lovely downwind sail to Hodges with Captain Richie and Mate Daisy. Meanwhile, the rest of the fleet hiked up Beef Island and took in stunning 360-degree views of the British Virgin Islands.
Once everyone returned to the boats, we had grilled cheese and tomato soup for lunch, with preparation assistance from our MIT, Izzy! Following the post-lunch cleanup, we completed our PDCs (Pre-Departure Checks) for our sail to Virgin Gorda. Our Skipper of the Day, Charlotte, led our crew in dropping the mooring ball before heading out into the channel. It was a choppy day on the water, but our crew raised the sails like pros! The sail to Mountain Point was full of fun music, dancing, and lots of smiles.
As we prepared to anchor at Long Bay, two seagull friends decided to land and hitch a ride in from the sea. After nailing the anchoring, the crew enjoyed a nice post-sail swim.
We took ocean showers, watched the sunset, and ate a delicious dinner prepared by Charlotte and James. After cleaning the boat, Mates Lily and Emily led a lesson about bioluminescence during our boat meeting. The crew then set out on dinghies to see the bioluminescence, and the water was absolutely sparkling.
After a long day of good music, beautiful views, cool critters, and lots of laughs, the crew tucked into bed under the stars
