Alpha Day 5: Brought to you by the crew of SJ

By wpdev July 27, 2014

Today we woke up to Paul and Ryan making pancakes for the rest of the crew.  Then we set off to Norman Island and learned about downwind sailing and jibing and also the parts of the sail.  We learned a little bit more about the wind and points of sail  Once we arrived, Lucy and Elizabeth cooked an awesome lunch that consisted of bagel sandwiches.  After cleanup, we all swam in the ocean, and after all of us took a few jumps off of the boat, we headed to shore.  Adam and Matt went for a hike and then snorkeled around the Island.  While they were off adventuring, the rest of the crew went diving, and some saw a turtle and an eagle ray!  After diving, we headed back to our boats and showered.  Callie, Lucy, and Meredith made a delicious breakfast for dinner.

Today our crew did a great job of: sailing and cleaning

We need to work on: cooking in better proportions

Quote of the day: Don’t poke the beast (Meredith and Lucy)

Miracle Moment: When we tamed the beast for a minute…and then it retaliated

-Pictures to come this afternoon!

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
