The Delta crew woke up this morning moored in Ladder Bay at Saba. We began our day with a breakfast of english muffins and cereal. Our last day down island, we were all eager for the arrival of the dive boat to take us to land. Ashore at Fort Bay, we met up with our taxi drivers and drove up to Windward Side. Once in town, the whole crew had half a day to relax and explore the area a little more.

Some opted to hike Mt. Scenery, the home of the highest point in the kingdom of the Netherlands, while others stayed in town or went back to Jo Bean’s place for more bead making. All around, the group had a great morning spreading out and seeing the sights. Back together as it became early afternoon, several students assisted in a re-provisioning at Saba’s small super market. Armed with the food that would get us through the rest of our trip, we headed back to our boat to prepare it for the exciting voyage ahead… The night sail back to the BVI’s!

Once all aboard, the crew began cleaning and stowing belongings while staff started on making dinner. The boat primed for another long voyage, students all made their way above deck and set the waypoints, all ready to go. Come late afternoon, we got underway, the whole crew excited for the sail. As we made our way from Saba, we ate our chicken curry dinner and hung out in the cockpit as a group, listening to music and chatting. The crew enjoyed sailing into a gorgeous sunset and watching it all together. As dusk fell, some went off to bed to rest up for their night shifts as others put on harnesses, ready for the long night ahead.

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
