The Delta crews got to have a relaxing morning before preparing for our down island sail later this afternoon! We spent the morning stowing all loose items above and below decks and getting ready to go on the dock at Leverick Bay. Once on the dock, we began to set up and properly secure the jack lines and hoist our dinghies.

Our students later sat down with Mike Liese, Sail Caribbean’s Founder/Director, to hear about the adventure they were about to embark on. They also learned about their night shifts and exactly what will happen while we are sailing at night. All of our students spent the entire day eager to begin this new journey.

Around 6:00pm, all lines were thrown and Fidji and Zibal began to make their way past Necker Island and into open ocean. After dinner was cleaned, sails were up and students plotted our course down to St. Martin because we would not see land again until the next afternoon. Around 8:00pm, the night shifts began and the journey was underway to the Leeward Islands!

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
