On the morning of day nine, the sun rose over the sleepy campers for a beautiful morning in Marina Cay. We had a very special breakfast; a full batch of pancakes that were highly appreciated by all! Some added chocolate chips to their concoctions. After a quick bite and a discussion about pancakes versus waffles, we then had our rescue divers depart for the morning. They’d head to a session where they’d practice their first rescue dive scenario, and learn the appropriate response.

The Advanced Open Water and Fun divers also went to dive in the morning. The Advanced returned with exciting news; the newest batch of Advanced divers became certified after their morning!

Meanwhile on the boat, the crew dropped the mooring ball and departed for their sail around Scrub Island and Great Camanoe. The three Foxtrot catamarans anchored at Monkey Point, and gathered for not one but two marine biology lessons, one on seagrass (its biology, identification, and threats) as well as a special second lesson on nudibranchs. While this was going on, Sierra, Bravo, and Charlie boats anchored in Lee Bay, a quite beautiful and calm bay. They enjoyed jumping into the clear and still waters and socializing between boats.

After their lessons, the Foxtrot students participated in a snorkel and took part in some well needed chill time on the boats. Dinner that night was a delicious meal of chicken curry and with fried plantains, always a favorite meal of campers and staff alike. Once dinner was all cleared away, the boats had a quite night on board complete with a boat meeting and power down to bed. As the stars rose on a beautifully clear night sky, the campers fell into a deep slumber.

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
