EARLIES Day 7

Written by Franny P; Social Media Coordinator
Yesterday we all woke up with our boats side by side on the docks of Nanny Cay! Everyone got up, made breakfast, and walked around to grab some treats before departure. We were trying to leave early, but first had a big checklist: combining boats so students could sail together and organizing which ones would stay behind for laundry pick-up.
Just as I was about to set sail with Beau Budd, a last-minute provisions delivery arrived. We all leapt into action, forming an assembly line to get everything loaded and back to our boats quickly.
Once that was done, we got into position for de-docking. Jamesy was relaying, Ellie was on roaming fender, Landon was on the spring line, Charlie had the bow line, and Michael was on the stern line. Everyone else was spotting. We got out of the marina with no issues and started the most beautiful four-hour sail, passing Tortola and St. John. Gliding between the islands was so lovely, it was truly my favorite sail so far.
While underway, Grey and Naomi made us some delicious Greek wraps. Sadly, the sail had to come to an end, but we soaked up the sun and waves the entire way, and Tommy was a great skipper. We moored at Jost Van Dyke so smoothly, Captain Charlotte has clearly taught everyone well!
We were the first catamaran there, so I jumped in to do a jellyfish check, clear! We pulled out the lily pad and got some swimmy fun time in. As the other Sail Caribbean boats began to ease into the cove, we climbed back aboard and watched each one tactically catch a mooring ball. Then everyone jumped in for more swimmy fun!
The boats were putting on a show for me, showing off their best flips and tricks. Before we knew it, it was already 4:30, the day moved so fast. We all started our showers, got dressed in fancier outfits, and dinghied ashore for a land dinner.
First, all the students wandered through the shops to buy candy, shirts, or hats. It was really fun to be in a place where everyone could hang out together and see familiar faces. Dinner was catered—chicken, rice, pasta salad, coleslaw, green salad, and fries. It was so good. And then came ice cream!
It was definitely one of the best nights of the session so far. After dinner, the DJ got everyone on their feet for a dance party. We danced so hard and for so long that by 9 PM, we were all exhausted and ready to head back to the boats.
Yesterday was an incredible day that fully embodied everything Sail Caribbean has to offer—it has definitely been one of the best so far!
