The campers woke up bright and early, excited for the big day ahead of them. Today on the menu for breakfast was sausage and eggs, made by the crew on Ondine. After everyone fueled up and cleaned up the galley, we gathered for a navigation briefing to go over the route to our next destination: Sandy Cay.
Once the briefing was complete, roles were assigned- Jack as skipper, Shepard as monkey, and Gabe on lunch duty. Then it was time to hoist the sails and get underway.
In total, we spent 4.5 hours out on the open water. Along the way, the campers practiced their sailing skills, worked together as a team, and enjoyed another beautiful day out on the Caribbean Sea. Emilia, our marine bio mate, also gave a lesson on sea turtles to the campers. Before long, Sandy Cay came into view, and everyone was excited to hop ashore.
When we finally got to Sandy Cay, it was time to hit the beach for Olympics! The activities included making a sand castle out of our mates, tug-of-war, and synchronized swimming. Each boat competed against the others, and the energy was electric! There was plenty of cheering, laughter, and friendly competition as everyone gave each challenge their all.
Afterward, we got back on the boat and sailed to Sidney’s for dinner and the soda social. The campers danced, shopped at the local market, and treated themselves to some yummy ice cream at the parlor. It was the perfect way to wrap up an action-packed day. Safe to say it was a jam-packed, fun-filled day. We can’t wait to continue the festivities tomorrow!
