Today would be a day of re-organising, as we returned to Moorings to load up on provisions so we could set off once more. But first, breakfast! It was an earlier start, but the smell of Bryce’s scrambled eggs had everyone awake in no time. During breakfast, we also had the opportunity to get a few people dinghy certified, and among those who did, Ben stood out as a pro on the tiller, performing the cleanest docking our fleet had ever seen.
But these activities had to end soon as we started Dinghy Dares: a test of each boat’s creativity and dinghy driving. In the first round, we entered a competitive food portrait of Topher made out of bagels and pasta, although we were beaten at the post in the life jacket challenge, having fewer jackets than the other boats. Luckily, our original boat song, “A Happy Place Rap,” brought us back into the running, with our Dress-a-Mate hopefully securing our victory.
Afterwards, we prepared to sail back to Moorings on Tortola, but on the way tragedy struck as we lost a beanbag overboard. However, our crew refused to leave any bean behind, so they swiftly lowered the sails and motored back to recover it, completing an unintended man overboard drill. We arrived successfully with a great docking maneuver, with Mateo and Jaden being excellent spotters and Maria, Annabelle, and Rodrigo throwing lines perfectly to the dockhands.
Once docked, the kids had an opportunity to enjoy the facilities at the Moorings before a good shower and a phone call home to share the tales of their adventures. They then made a scrumptious dinner of chicken Alfredo with broccoli that was well enjoyed. The kids then took great care to clean the boat they called home, with Ian in particular taking great pride in ensuring the space was pristine.
After doing an excellent job cleaning, they were rewarded with ice cream and a movie, choosing Pirates of the Caribbean. Then, as the sun set, everyone went to bed excited for the adventures that lay ahead now that the fridges were stocked and their clothes were being cleaned. What a good dock day!
