Day 5

The fleet motored over to Long Bay Beach early in the morning. In honor of Capt. Ollie’s birthday, the boats had an English breakfast of toast, bacon, baked beans and fried eggs. After anchoring, our students spent the morning wakeboarding and swimming around in the sandy bay. Many of our students were able to get up on a wakeboard for the first time! Around 10 am the boats got ready to sail over to Mountain Point, located in the northwest region of Virgin Gorda. The area is known for its interesting landscapes and marine wildlife.

It was an upwind sail with quite a bit of tacking. Students have been showing initiative taking over the boat which is always exciting to witness. Great Catsby had a dolphin closely following them for a few minutes – check out our Instagram story to see for yourself!

Once anchored at Mountain Point, the second anchoring of the day, the students were able to snorkel and paddleboard. Dinner was baked ziti, a fan-favorite amongst the staff! Boat meetings that night were dedicated to filling out their Full Value Contract, which is a document created by the students and counselors that outlines the values and general rules of the boat. Writing these contracts allows the boat to talk about how important it is to respect and look out for one another during the program.
