Alpha 3 & Tango 3: Day 6 – The Dogs and Anegada

By wpdev August 1, 2021

Day 6

The fleet woke up to the beautiful views of Mountain Point. After breakfast, the fleet up-anchored and headed over to The Dogs for a snorkeling adventure. The Dogs are a group of five small islands off the northwestern coast of Virgin Gorda. They are sanctuaries for birds and marine animals, which makes for an epic snorkel every time! Many of the students were excited to share the cool creatures they saw, such as large stingrays and colorful coral.

The rest of the afternoon was spent sailing to Anegada. The weather could not have been more perfect for a long sail. Around 4 pm all of the boats were on their mooring balls and enjoying some time to relax after a busy morning and afternoon. As they arrived the staff boat was able to announce the exciting news that all of the boats were out of quarantine. The news came just in time for the Anegada adventure tomorrow.

As everyone settled in, the staff boat went around for a visit to each boat and was finally allowed on board. Thor had been drawing up some masterpieces, making friendship bracelets and creating silly nicknames for everyone. Kajsa had some amazing energy and would start dancing to whatever song was playing. Great Catsby was super excited about their snorkel this morning and was eager to pose for some pictures. The boys on board were all cooking as a group, which was great to see. Moet students were hanging at the helm and talking about how they were the fastest sailboat on the water today.

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
