Alpha & Tango 2: Day 5 – Nanny Cay

By wpdev July 19, 2022

This morning was especially amazing because we started the day with the fluffiest chocolate chip pancakes made by the people on breakfast. After sending in our laundry, we dropped the ball at Cooper. We raised sails and made our way down the channel. Everyone is getting the hang of all the positions for our sailing maneuvers, and gets more smooth every time. It was a downwind sail to our destination of the night, Nanny Cay on Tortola. The crews docked for the first time, and were very excited for all the activities that were available on shore.

After the cleaning inspection was passed, everyone jumped on the dock eager to explore the marina. There were multiple shops to buy souvenirs, and gifts, and a grocery store for a treat or two. People relaxed by the pool with the backdrop of a sandy beach, and the channel they had sailed in the morning. The day got even better at shower time. Everyone was able to use the air-conditioned, freshwater marina showers and felt especially fresh for dinner. We re-provisioned food today, so the dinner chefs had lots to work with preparing fajitas for their crew.

The night ended with a quick clean, and a boat meeting on the bow recapping our day. Then a game of pirates was played and we settled in for the night ready for another day in the Caribbean.

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
