Alpha 3 & Tango 3: Day 3 – Diamond Cay

By wpdev July 29, 2021

Day 3

Our boats were headed out and raising their sails by 9:30 am. During the sail, the students had a downwind sailing lesson and reviewed the importance of hydration.

After a beautiful sail and lunch underway, the fleet ended up at Diamond Cay. Diamond Cay National Park is tucked between Little Jost Van Dyke on the southern shore. A couple of our boats went ashore to hike Sandy Spit, an island of limestone in the group of volcanic cays. The views from the top of the hike were amazing! Great Catsby woke up a little earlier and did the hike to the bubbly pools on Jost Van Dyke as well.

The evening was filled with Kajsa making friendship bracelets, Thor playing the game Mafia, and Great Catsby and Moet splashing in the water. After showers, dinner and boat meetings the fleet was asleep.

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
