Alpha Day 7

By wpdev July 30, 2014
Here is the trip update from Sao Jorge!
“We started off the day restocking up on some food for our boats.  While the open water students went diving, the rest of us headed to the beach to play some volleyball.  Monty and Paul had an amazing comeback against Adam and Meg. Once we had concluded our epic match, we went for a fun truck ride through Tortola and saw all of the beautiful sights.  To end the ride, we had some ice cream and stopped at a glass blowing shop.
When the divers returned, we all sat down for some lunch.  Around 1 o’clock, we set sail for a long journey and challenge sail to Bitter End on Virgin Gorda.  On the way, we saw a turtle that looked like it needed help, so we furled our jib, turned around and freed it!  Once we got to the Bitter End, we all took showers and got ready for dinner.  Callie and Seamus cooked an excellent dinner to conclude the day before boat meeting.”
Curriculum covered: Challenge sail
Today our crew did a great job of:  Tacking and saving a turtle
We need to work on: challenge sailing
Quote of the Day: “We really wish we could come up with a quote of the day”
Miracle moment: Saving the turtle.

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
